So nice to have a lie in! Met the remaining few to head into Christchurch for some breakfast. We walked towards a place known as the shipping container shopping centre - an area that's been built after the earthquake. It looks really quirky and cool - literally everything is in a shipping container and painted in bright colours. Very clever. Went to a place called the Hummingbird Cafe and had the nicest eggs benedict.

We wandered around the shops for a bit before a coffee stop where we met up with Lauren and Jamie and said our goodbyes to Alex. Stupid goodbyes.

Headed for a walk to look around the CBD which is classed as the red zone from the earthquakes. I haven't taken any photos out of respect as there's so many sad sights - broken buildings, piles of rubble, cracks in the roads, flowers pinned to fences.. There are construction sites everywhere and it all feels very sad.

We walked back to the hostel and I did my washing - it was long overdue! Re-met people at 6pm to head back out. Lauren and Jamie had found a cool bar called Revival which had a live band doing acoustic versions of popular songs. The lady singer had such an amazing voice. Went to a Thai restaurant for dinner and then a cool venue called Crash Palace. The bar is a bus and strung out from it are fairy lights. It's outside so they give you hot water bottles and we drank hot mulled cider.

Went back to Revival and spent the rest of the evening there. Sad to say bye to Jamie and Lauren who leave for Bali tomorrow. Christchurch is an interesting place, from what people were wearing and the music played I felt like I'd gone back in time. Something quite 90's about it all..
