Overnight bus was fine, slept pretty much the whole way. Just woke every few hours and tried to reposition myself a bit. My chair was fully reclined when I sat in it so no feeling bad about reclining onto the person behind me! The girl sat next to me was (another) German - had been working as an Au Pair on the East coast before travelling down the West. Nice enough although she was a teeth grinder when asleep.. Also bumped into a guy from my Cape Trib tour, funny how you keep seeing people making their way down the coast too.

Woke up around 7am to sunrise and a beautiful orange sky - we pulled into the services and I grabbed a tea and a piece of fruit cake. Not much later we arrived into Hervey Bay. Headed for coffee and wifi to see where I needed to go. Walked to my hostel, such a lovely sunny day. The streets and houses here really reminded me of Ramsey Street! An old guy with a beard stopped to offer me a lift, I declined..

Palace Backpackers is a really nice hostel, each dorm has a living room area and kitchen with loads of space. Outside there are hammocks and even an avery with cockatoos! Got up to my dorm and was greeted by a Canadian girl called Aja. We've spent the whole afternoon walking around the beach and talking. Is the first time since arriving in Oz I've really felt like I've been on holiday - sun, blue sky, blue calm sea and lovely sand.. We stopped for lunch in an Italian that had a deal on pizza and free wifi. Lovely.

Headed back to the hostel for our group meeting - Aja had already met a Londoner called Angela who's also in our dorm. The three of us decided to chip in together for our Fraser Island shop. We had our briefing about what kind of stuff we should buy and made a plan. I've offered up the Browntown-jumbalaya-camping-special for one night so hopefully it'll go down well! The rest of our group are 3 more girls from Canada, 3 more Brits & an Irish guy. All seem nice enough.

We had an hour to shop, think we did a pretty good job. We've cooked spaghetti for dinner tonight and had a couple of rum and gingers. Just climbed into bed for an early one as we're up at 5.30am tomorrow. Looks like an epic day, excited!
