Started today with a view of where Thailand meets Burma before a look around a local market. Bought a watch & a couple of bracelets - all for less than £3, I can't believe how little everything costs here. Morning over we headed for lunch at a buffet- style restaurant before heading to the Golden Triangle - 3 countries meet and there's a small island that's owned by no-one. The countries are Thailand, Burma & Laos. After looking down from a viewpoint we headed to the Opium Museum - interesting!

Next we caught a long boat and headed down the Mekong to see the Golden Triangle up close. Then we crossed the border to a market in Laos (another country to add to my list!) It's a lot poorer than Thailand and we had children come up to us begging for money. Kitty took us to see Moonshine whiskey - 4 jars that contain whiskey plus something else which the people believe make you strong: gheko's, scorpions, snakes & tiger penis' (!) The boys were brave and drank a shot of the latter, this evening they all claim to feel really awake..

We caught the boat back to Thailand and headed to a traditional food market. Not for the faint hearted - half alive fish & frogs as well all the fresh vegetables, herbs & fruit. We ate more Lambutan and a fruit called Mangosteen.

Dinner in the hotel is currently being followed by a game called 'Jungle Speed' - I placed second (you know how competitive I get) so am waiting for the game to finish so I can play again (come on first place..)
