Met my tour group last night, nice bunch of people - generally from all over the world. Our tour guide is a really camp, lovely guy called Kitty & my room mate is the only other Brit - a really nice girl called Debbie from Brum. Felt really bad for her as her luggage went missing so have been trying to help by giving her my things to use. Dinner was nice, trying to ease in and not eat anything too hot but even the mild dishes are spicy! Also had my first singha beer.

Today we met early and got the public bus into the city. The 'ticket inspector' was an older Thai lady who was about 4 ft high - myself and Fran an Aussie girl got hustled off our seats by her when two men got on the bus - apparently the custom in Thailand. Not one I'm a fan of..

First stop Wat Po, a temple which has a giant reclining Buddha - 45 metres long. Amazing architecture, really beautiful place (will include some pictures). On the way out, the tradition is to place coins into pots which run in a line all the way to the exit - there were around 30 and it's supposed to bring you good fortune. For every coin I made a wish for someone back home.

Next was a tour of the Klongs canal on a long boat. Zipped along past houses on stilts & stopped to feed the fish. I also bought a traditional fan from an old lady on a boat-shop. Then onto the Flower market which was full of vivid colours & scents. Me & Debbie got separated from the group, thankfully spotted them in time to grab a taxi back to the hotel!

Picked up our things and just started a 6 hour bus journey north to an ancient town called Sukhothai. Bought some fruit from the bus station that's kind of like a cross between an apple and a melon. Even that comes with a bag of spice!!

Hoping people enjoyed the Ziggy doc, I've still got the songs playing on loop in my head..

Will be checking your blog regularly from dreary London! And will be checking the Bowie doc on iPlayer this week as couldn't catch the beginning of the main televised programme on Friday. Lots of Love Liz xxx
