We head off to Brissy - another one of Australia's big cities - and that's all it is really - we spend a night here with our friends, and we walk around the waterfront, evidence of the flooding still around, with repairs still being carried out.  Tom takes more photos with his little dinosaur for which he brought with him from Germany to take "random" photos of.  We walk quite a long way, and we have a scenic little boat ride on the way back.  The evening held a few drinks at a local bar where we ate $1 tacos! This was an interesting night for many reasons, not suitable for a blog!

Me and Jane then head off to surfers paradise for one day, just to chill out on the beach and shop - the only thing to do in surfers really is to do a massive pub crawl - not something me and Jane were interested in at that point! So we had fish and chips (Jane is making a point of having fish and chips everywhere to test out the local produce - verdict - not as good as home!!)  Off we go to Byron Bay - this was a favorite last time I was in Australia, and I was sure it was going to be a favorite again!
We meet up with the crew again, and stay in the same hostel, the 3 days consisted of beach time, and drink time pretty much! The beach is lovely - and was only a stone throw away from the hostel - me and Jane topped the tan up - her still looking lilly white....!  The evening carries on with some family /child orientated fire throwing show - it felt a little inappropriate in a backpackers with these young teenage girls with their vest tops on...  We head off to the legendary Cheeky monkeys - a nightclub where the main focus is dancing on the tables! - we get there to discover there is in fact a wet t shirt comp happening! - fab! so the boys - or rather just Matt takes himself as close to the front as possible  - while the girls watch the old men perving - it was pretty disgusting! - obviously as the night went on, and the more drinks that we took on board - we ended up dancing on the tables with the rest of them! Was a good night out yet again.

The time comes to get the overnight bus back to Sydney, and for Jane to be leaving me in a couple of days.  This was a really bad journey for me (yet another chest infection)  I kept the whole bus up coughing all night - I had a few evils stares! then to top off the bad night when we arrived in Sydney, there were no hostels anywhere! all booked out - there must have been some kind of festival on - but we were stuck in an Irish bar (not all bad I suppose!) eventually we were saved as my friend Jo who had just moved over with her husband from the UK recently said we could stay at theirs - excellent! So we go round, and have a good catch up.  The next day we book into a hostel and go off souvenir shopping for Jane to buy that tatt we all love!  That evening we meet up with our east coast friends for a farewell dinner at a Chinese restaurant.  The day suddenly came where Jane had to leave - which was pretty upsetting for both of us, and as quickly as she came, she was gone :(

The days after felt pretty lonely, though I still had Matt around for company, and we had a good few days together wondering around, and yet more souvenir shopping for his friends and family - I also had started my first shifts this week on a kids ward.  Then Matt left - and I felt alone, and pretty low actually - it was the first time I had felt alone like that - I think because I always had Jane's visit to look forward to, where as now, I would be waiting 4 months before I would see my family and friends again.  I also think I was getting very bored of Sydney - while it is a great city - I had spent alot of time here and the weather was turning cold - While I was getting alot of shifts - all being night shifts and the money was good - it was not where I wanted to spend my last few months in Australia. So I do a bit of research and I booked a flight to Perth - sun, sea, sand and nursing! I say my goodbyes to Caroline  a good friend that I worked with back in December, and of course to Emma and Jo - and I jet set off again on a almost new adventure (I was on Perth in December with Cat!)
