Where I stayed
Well the beginning of Sydney didn't go too well! - I booked my first night in the biggest dump I could find it would seem! - such a dirty and horrible hostel, so I promptly booked out in the morning (at least I got a free pick up!) and found another, what I thought was a clean hostel - and it was a good place for 5 days - then I got bed bugs (yuk!!!) for which the hostel kind of knew about, I changed rooms, as I had paid for 2 weeks, so I thought I'd give it another go, all was well for another 3 days then I got bitten once again - so I was off!!! I found a much better hostel right next to central station, and ended up staying here for the remainder of my time in Sydney.
I did however meet Cynthia at the bed bug hostel, she was a french Canadian girl and was such a laugh, she was working in Western Oz in a little town, but she had the most outrageous stories to tell, one involving cow wrestling, and snake holding
I also find myself working for a telesales company selling raffle tickets for charity - as my nursing reg is still not through (aghhhh) so to earn a bit of cash - I decided this is the job for me.... hmmm I gave it 2 weeks and left! ha ha. It was crap, you are constantly saying the same thing on the phone, but one thing surprised me is that the Aussies are more polite than us Brits! and I did managed to sell quite alot of tickets, my highest being $300 worth of tickets. The best thing about working there was I met some cool people. Charlotte, kyley and Caroline were from Uk and Ireland, and we had a bit of a laugh at work when possible and ate out for lunch most days to get away from the place! We would laugh so much about what I thought about some of the people that worked there - we had sideshow Bob, Where's Wally, and of course the legendary Alan Stone - this guy was such a dick. Basically he makes the company millions of dollars each year (shit hot at the job) but he has the biggest head in the world... and is so rude and up his own arse! - on my leaving do - courtesy of the job! ha ha (works end of month night out) with free drinks and food - there was some naughty things going on, which I shouldn't really write about, but lets just say I had the last laugh. I was soo glad to leave, I couldn't stick that job, I miss nursing! - poor girls though, they still work there....
In my new hostel, I met 3 lovely french girls, Elodie, Maud and Alize, we hung out sometimes and generally had a laugh and there was a lovely atmosphere in the room, I helped Elodie with some English maybe some English she didn't need
Of course Emma is over here, and we spent alot of time together either shopping, on singstar watching movies and we went to the Blue Mountains together, which was a great day, lovely and hot, we got on the little bus to go around all the stops to view the blue mountains and viewed the three sisters, we also ate alot, and went to the chocolate shop and have the best choc cake and coffee ice cream, hmmmmm!
Otherwise it was deviantly salsa time! - I done loads!! I went around 2-3 times a week - there was just so much of it around, about 4 venues every night, so I was very spoiled. I went to a few places regularly, and made a few friends. The standard here is very high and I think I have improved so much since I left home - there are so many moves that I hadn't done or seen before, so its been great learning some new moves! I brought a pair of nice salsa shoes out here, and my shoes that I wear fell apart here! Maud took a video of me when we were out at a salsa night which is on facebook. I will miss the salsa when I go over to the west coast! I will pack my shoes, just in case I find something!!
I done all the usual again too, like visit the opera house and the harbor bridge, I also went to watch the redbull Flugtag and had my photos taken with 3 male brides who were taking the leap of faith! I shopped alot - which is very bad for the credit card, went out alot, which was very bad for the liver, and went to the beach, which was very bad for my skin! No - all in moderation! I do like Sydney as a city, there is alot happening, but I will be pleased to start my new adventure on the West coast with Cat.
