Well, the jet lag is a wee bit better but I am still all over the place.....no change there then !!! ha ha
So yesterday I did it.....I did the cheesy tourist trip thing....I went to see where the stars live( and I mean you George Clooney....just give it up ....you so know you want to marry me !! And anyway I now know where you live !)
Lets face it, it had to be done !!!! Seeing as I have fairly limited time in LA, its the best way to see the place. The last time I came here in 1991 I was only here for a day.
But what staggers me soo soo much is that the city changes from OH MY GOD ITS GORG!!!!, to a "I am so pleased I am not walking out there alone"....

Santa Monica, like anywhere in the world has its nice places and its not so nice places but I am shocked by the amount of people that have been made homeless for whatever reason, and that live on the streets. Alot of the homeless people you encounter appear to be totally off their heads either on drink or drugs, but then you have some, what look like genuine, homeless people. I know that you see it in London and stuff, but I suppose I didn't expect to see as much of it here. Or maybe its more a case that I havnt really seen it for myself before and been a wee bit sheltered ?? I don't know really. Put it this way, I wouldn't go out on my own after it got dark, it doesn't feel all that safe.....and I certainly am wary of where I am going in the day.....but you know me, am too sensible for my own good and I am looking after myself.....
Santa Monica itself is quite cute ( how American is that word ha ha).The beaches are lovely and the pier is so oldie worldie....it would look so so much better in the sun....
Hotel is fine, bed is huge and comfy and not a hostel.....but the best is yet to come....oh yes, bring it on........

I have one more night at Santa Monica, then I am changing hotels and off to Beverley Hills.......I still cant believe I am staying in the Regent Beverley Wilshire......I am so going to lock the doors, run the biggest bubble bath in the world and order room service....oh and steal anything thats not nailed down !!!!
Its a nice feeling knowing that when I came in from the pub all those weeks ago, my tip money was going to be put to good use....one night in a hotel is probably not the best use of it, but what the hell, I will think of the memories in years to come and lets face it, its the most fabulous way to end all of this adventure !!!!

Back to the tour of the stars homes.....now I am a grown up, I know that really the tour guide could have taken me anywhere and told me that someone famous lived there(Tom Crusie, George, Goldie Hawn, Arnie, Ben Affleck,Marylin Monroes first house, Frank Sinatra's house, loads of people....lets be honest, I don't live here, so what do I know. It was a good laugh though and I did manage to see quite a bit(even if some of them were just gates with big cameras on them !!!!!.........and I even saw Karl Largafield in Rodeo Drive with all his hangers on.....and if it wasn't him, it was his brother.......He looks well old and frail !!!!

So the trip itself.....you saw the famous Hollywood strip where the stars names are on the sidewalk ( and I had to take a picture of Jackie Chan and Britney......I thought that would make you laugh Mick, you soo know why !!!) The Chinease Theatre, and the new Kodak theatre, the Hollywood sign ( which I have seen a better view of when I came last time but hey ho!)the beaches at Santa Monica ( I walked down them when I got here on Weds and they are sweet) Muscle Beach ( now thats a scary sleazy place, not because of the men doing their thang, but in a "boyz in the hood" scary way.......so glad that I was on my own there for half an hour whilst the tour bloke went off and came back to get us.....not.....
Also got to see the canals of Venice ( basically massive homes on a canal ) which were beautiful. Also got taken to Rodeo drive....Just to get me in the mood.....shopping looks fab....and they have normal shops like Gap, Banana Republic, Starbuck ( yes it is a shop, you buy coffee there!) Tiffanys, Gucci.....ha ha - had to get those two in did I not.......I also figure that as I didn't do Tiffanys yet I could buy a bag in Gucci........perhaps I should just cut the credit card up now ?????????

Anyway, I went into the hotel to arrange my transport for Sunday and I nearly died on the spot, its absolutely gorg. I explained I need transport, what time could I check in that kinda stuff and they were soooo soooo nice. The lady on reception asked what building I wanted to be in, and seeing as I didn't know that there was a difference I told her just a nice room would do. She asked loads of questions about what I was doing etc etc, so when I said I was doing this as I had been in hostels, she like "Oh I wished I could have done that & lets see that we can get you a lovely room with a better view" OH MY GOD HOW EXCITED AM I?????? Also excited about coming home too..........it will be soo good to see everyone. I would think by now that the Christmas silly season has kicked off.....it did in Oz before I left, but it didn't feel the same.....all a bit odd.....

So, thats about me up to date, off to do some shopping and get some lunch.
Hope everyone is ok at home. Will try and update before I fly back.
