En route to Bishkek is the forgettable town of Naryn, a soulless place with nothing much to do but drink vodka.  We managed to find a place to stay, after some unnecessary faffing around, in what appeared at first to be an abandoned building.  We soon realised that every building in Naryn looks like it has been abandoned and left to crumble some time ago, presumably when the Russians buggered off and left the country in a right mess.  The interior didn't improve our impressions either.  The apartment smelt of cabbage and looked like the sort of place that could easily claim the sanity of those who were inclined towards the negative side of life.
On the plus side we had a nice salad and left the next morning.
