Where I stayed
Casa de Katie and Alan
After a lovely sleep in til 9am we woke up to find that we were now sharing the dorm room with 7 boys in varying states of dress/undress and intoxication. The floor was covered in bags, clothes and general travelling crap which made for quite an obstacle course when trying to maneuver our way out of the room to the showers. The shock of walking back into the room was overpowering. It was like walking into a thick, dark, dense, highly pungent, invisible fog of boy smell. The guy in the bed next to me had been farting throughout the night and many of them just had really bad smelling sneakers. That combined with the general smell of 10 people sleeping in a confined space made it unbearable in the room. I grabbed all my stuff as quickly as humanly possible and dragged it out into the hallway to reorganise and pack up. Having been spoilt sharing rooms with either just Sam or girls for the past 5 weeks it was a huge shock to the senses and neither myself, Sam or Bree could wait to get out of there!
We made our way to the train station saying a sad farewell to Edinburgh on an absolutely stunning day. Just over an hour later we were being greeted at Glasgow Central Station by my old school friend, Katie. We spent a bit of time in town having lunch, wandering the shops then headed back to the apartment she shares with her new husband, Alan. Sam's friend Ross arrived from nearby Ayr and we went out for tea together at the local before almost tearfully saying goodbye to Sam who was heading off for a week with Ross. Excited about spending some time with Katie and Alan, but sad about saying goodbye to the person I’d spent nearly every minute of the past 5 weeks with, we had an earlyish night in preparation for our big day of fun an excitement tomorrow Going Ape!
