After 30 hours in (door to door) transit we collapsed into London and enjoyed a week seeing the sights, catching up with Nicky's brother Tim and several other kiwi friends who now made London their home.

A serious wardrobe overhaul was carried out (we simply could not continue to wear the same rags in Europe we had already worn to death in India and South America), a visit to the hairdresser ticked off, and all in all we indulged in being back in a first-world (English speaking) country and ate ourselves silly.

As a side note - coming from South America, we found the food in London (self-catering) to be extremely cheap, varied and delicious!

The following Tuesday morning we picked up our pre-booked Wicked Van and so began day 1 of 100 days touring Europe with our own wheels...no more bus/ train timetables, only freedom to go where and when we wanted! We were very excited. Once we had sorted out the Sat Nav issues, stocked up our van with bedding and eating essentials we began our first drive down to Portsmouth to await our overnight ferry to Le Havre, France!

PS - despite being in technologically advanced Europe, we have very little internet (and battery charging opportunities) at our disposal...from now on I will be keep the blog posts extremely short, reducing the stories into a photoblog only. Enjoy!

PPS - if people don't hear from us in a while please do not be offended - we will reply to your message (eventually). In the meantime we have Nicky's NZ mobile number up and running.
