Flag of Brazil  , State of Parana,
Friday, May 14, 2010

This day Nick and I went to the Brazilian side of Iguazzu falls. Not many people wanted to go because we went to the Argentinian side, but I'm glad we did it. You get a much more panoramic view of the falls from this side so you get to see the whole thing in all it's glory.

Again, we got totally soaked as there was a big walkway you could go on, but we went prepared this time and it was a much sunnier day. We saw the funny little South American raccoon things which were just walking about on all the paths. They weren't shy at all.

After the falls we went to a bird park which was across the road. It was great as it had a lot of the wildlife from around the local and the Pantanal, which is where we are going next. We saw loads of weird and wonderful birds, reptiles, butterflies and monkeys. There were enclosures that you had to walk through which had loads of toucans in, amongst other things. It was terrifying. The toucans apparently have a penchant for biting feet and footwear and had attacked the toes of some of our group that went in before us. They stalked and chased us, eyeing up our flip-flops with their evil, beady little eyes. I ran for my life out of each enclosure. I now have a strong dislike/slight phobia of toucans. You just can't trust them.
