The purpose of our trip to Uyuni (which is overwise a fairly charmless place) was to visit the world´s largest salt flats, and today was the day that we did this.

We were pickd up by 4x4´s and our guide who was a bit crackers, in the morning and taken to a nearby village where we were shown how they process the salt to sell it. We were also shown a babbling pool which was full of natural iodine, which reacts with the salt to form bubbly water (scientific term).

We then drove 85km over a never ending sea of salt to an "island" which was a bit of land in the middle of the flats, where we had a slap up lunch made for us. The rest of our afternoon was spent taking crazy pictures of each other doing silly things on the salt flats, as there´s no perspective. It was a hoot as the photo´s will show, but it wasn´´t as easy as it looks as it was so bright you could hardly see the viewfinder of the cameras.

So that day the group were attacked by dinosaurs, hugged by teddy bears and flew to infinity and beyond with Buzz Lightyear (all not literally, but that´s not what the photos will suggest).

That night we went to the "extreme fun pub" in Uyuni. It was moderately fun, but I did get a drink in a very crudely shaped vessel. I won´´t elaborate, but I´ll just let you know that the drink was called "sexy llama bitch". Enough said.

Tash on

I'm loving the blogs even though haven't had chance to post anything lately. What an experience you're having. Salt flat pics are brilliant. What fab memories already and so much still to do. You both look really well and happy.
All well with us. Lilia loves seeing you both on the photos - I'm providing edited highlights of your trip! Keep blogging! Lots of love xxx
