Trip End
Apr 20, 2004
We have reached the end of 9 brilliant weeks, we are waiting for the plane home.
Port Douglas and the barrier reef were good the snorkelling on the reef was excellent. We lay about the pool and forgot about the golf. We left Port Douglas on Monday and flew via Sydney to Singapore, arriving at 4.00 a.m. The weather has been very hot and humid circa 36 degrees. We have wandered around, done some shopping and visited the botanical gardens. Overall a relaxing few days.
The 9 weeks seem to have flown by and also taken for ever, depending on the moment. The highlights have been many some include:
In the US the brilliant aerial views of San Francisco,
New Zealand
Scenery - Mount Cook, Milford Sound and the Glaciers
Wildlife - Penguins, Albatross and Dolphins
Activities - Wine tasting, Tongariro crossing, Auckland Skytower, Sailing, Horse riding, Sea kayaking
Seeing Billy Connolly
Australia
The opera house, the northern beaches, the blue mountains
Lying around various pools
We have been very lucky with the weather, the people we have met, having the time and money to do this. It really has been the trip of a lifetime, we have missed everyone at home and are looking forward to getting back to you all.
For those who know what has happened in the last 12 months we thank you for your support. We thank you especially for you encouragement before and during this trip and the enthusiasm of so many of you in hearing about our adventures.
We have made it around the 9 weeks without a major arguement and the experience has made us much closer (I think - Nick), Claire is as usual reading a book (one of several dozen - thankfully writing our diary has slightly reduced her reading time each day).
We will be sending you all to sleep with the photos soon - invites to our house may now not be so readily received - the video may however take several years (I still have to edit the wedding video).
Love and God's peace to all our friends
Nick and Claire
