This is my 10 day trip to israel. Birthright Taglit is a program started ten years ago that offers people from around the world with jewish connections to their blood a chance to travel free to israel. I applied for this trip in Spain and managed to get accepted for the june trip of 2010. They had one rule that i leave with them from New York. So I got on a plane and headed back to America from Spain. After a week of hanging out at home I headed to New York to meet the people I would be spending the next few days with. We all got together on the plane and started to get to know each other. I took sleeping pills so I was knocked out for pretty much the whole trip but when we finally arrived we collected our bags and walked out of security(the most intense security i have ever seen). Waiting for us outside were israeli soldiers dancing and singing in a circle. The exhausted lot of us all joined hands with the israeli soldiers and began to sing and dance right there in the middle of the airport they called it shehechiyanu(the blessing for renewal).

After that we all got on the bus and began and nice little trip to the beach where we had a introduction to our tour leader as well as take a shot of their traditional wine. We all got back on the bus and headed to my first ever Kibbutz. As my understanding goes a Kibbutz is similar to a hostel but differs in that people can work there in exchange for food and housing. Yes its was quite a long day of over 20 hours of traveling but we set up shop and got a good nights rest.
