(Peter) During our plane transfer in Bangkok, we met this couple from Scotland that was also on their way to India. While taking to them, Nicole asked the wife how they liked Indian food. She stated something like, "We do like Indian food. However, we don't like the spicyness of the food so much. We prefer food with more of a bland taste." Later on, we laughed at that comment because we couldn't understand how they would prefer blander-tasting food over chicken tikka, spinach paneer, biryani, and the other great dishes of India.

But now, already just a few days into our trip, we're spiced-out! Eating Indian food three times a day has really opened our eyes (and taste buds) on how much spices the people use in their daily cooking. We love Indian food, but everything is so much spicier than the food that we are used to in the states.

To the Scottish people that we met at the airport:

WE NOW UNDERSTAND. PLEASE FORGIVE US FOR LAUGHING AT YOU.

I just want plain bread for the next 2 days...
