Today we are setting off to make our way to the most Southern point Bluff.  We have to be back in Christchurch with the campervan cleaned and emptied by the 28th, so we have to be really careful with our time now.  It would be SO easy to stay here with the family, but Rhi is in Dunedin in her last few months of studying nursing, so we have to move on!  The plan is for us three to go today, and stop in Oamaru tonight (to see the Penguins!), then Jenny will drive down to Dunedin to stay with Rhi tomorrow night, and we’ll all meet up on Wednesday… phew! Then, as Jenny will have the car, we’ll find it much easier to get about without the big Kea in tow.  Can’t wait to see Rhi. It’s been three years since I last saw her and so much has happened. Hopefully we’ll get a couple of days with her, but she’s in a busy point of uni and I know what that feels like after last year’s chaos!  We drove down to Oamaru, it only took 3ish hours with a quick detour to the café in Methven.  It was sublime, but very busy so I don’t think I had the ‘real’ experience.  I did however have  lovely date scone, my new favourite anything!  The site we’re staying at tonight offers tours on to see the two colonies of local penguins that come in from the Pacific sea, the Yellow eyed and blue penguins.  I’m pretty pooped and desperately behind on my correspondence, so I’ve stayed in to make dinner for the pair of them when they get back (hopefully with photos!).
