We got up at 6 am on wednesday morning in Sihanoukville after only a couple of hours sleep to catch the earliest bus to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). It worked out in the end that we had to head all the way back to Phnom Penh to then go to the Vietnamese border and onto HCMC. Bit of a pain as we were pretty close to the Vietnamese border at Sihanoukville. The journey wasnt as bad as anticipated as there were quite a few other travellers to chat to to waste away the time. After driving for 6 hours we eventually reached the Vietnamese border. The border crossing was far easier and took alot less time that the border between Thailand and Cambodia. No surprise really as there is a history of trouble between the two countries and we saw in the news the other day that they had started shooting at each other again. Just as well we got through when we did then. Anyway, another 2 hours and we had arrived at HCMC 13 hours after we had set off.
