Being unable to see family for Christmas or New Year's (work revoked the plans at the last minute), I was given four days off this past weekend to celebrate the December holidays.
Having planned to spend Christmas with my family in the Catskills earlier, I took a train up along the Hudson River from New York's Penn Station (a 2-hour ride) to see them now.
Very appreciative of the time and opportunity I had with them.
Got to meet and play with my cousin Abby's little boy Mikey (3 now) as well as my older cousin's daughter Jacycee (who's about 4 or 5). Abby and I grew up along side one another, being only one month or two apart. But as we got older, those summer trips to see each other stopped completely. And now she has a baby! A beautiful boy I honestly thought I could run away with and be quite pleased with my decision.
Makes you wonder if you'll have your own kids some day...
Ah but I work too much now for that ;)
In the meantime, took some photos of their home and several more of the river coming back today.
Now you'll know what the Hudson River looks like, if you've never taken that train ride up or down.
