Made it to Los Angeles! ! !

So beautiful... sunshine, palm trees, Mexican burritos, and my family minus one <3 It's a city I frequently think about returning to, permanently, one day. I have yet to explore more of the state so L.A. may not become a final resting place but California certainly may be it.

Picked my sister Elise up from her apartment and drove downtown to a section of Mexican restaurants and shops, mostly touristy items but as good as anything for me!

Saw oodles of t-shirts and other souvenir items protesting U.S./Mexican border lines (many featuring a non-judgmental Jesus on the cover -- think about THAT why don't ya), odds and ends like cow hoof water canteens, and then, my absolute favorite, Mexican wrestling masks!!! (which I sorta regret not buying despite the novelty/price unbalance.)

Among the many other activities we busied ourselves with, we visited the Griffith Observatory which is perched high above downtown Los Angeles (featured not just in the final scene of the Steve Martin movie "Bow Finger" but in some werewolf video game my sister mentioned too ...among many other things), explored Woodlawn Cemetery where Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor were recently laid to rest (among many, many, MANY other famous people including Spencer Tracy, Walt Disney, Nat King Cole, and Larry of The Three Stooges (these specifics noted as we found their graves).

Marilyn Monroe, alas, is buried in another cemetery to my disappointment. Though after expecting to see her, can say I at least know a lot, lot more about her after reading a few short biographies.

Oh, and yes, the mourners at the Michael Jackson memorial outside his grave, some were crying and several were most certainly playing his songs out loud ...despite conflicting audio. The items left behind were a mixture of his photos along with Ms. Elizabeth Taylor's.

I obviously got a bit lazier once in LA in taking pictures. Being connected again with family, the laziness of that over came me. I do have a few more travels coming up though around New York, and hopefully D.C. again soon, so it will certainly be soon before long in more travel photos and stories, guaranteed!
