Prompting for AC360 is one of the most stressful experiences you can have as a News Assistant -- but amazingly fun. Did this all week, having one good night (which director told me I gave myself too much credit for) and then some flops (second night, most of the control room turned around to scream all at once at me).
But I love it. I love the pressure. I love the rush. I even love the yelling and urgency.
I don't mind you barking out your orders to me. Yell 'um out! Let's skip any additional words around your directions, like "please," if it gets it to me faster.
It made me think,
It's kinda like a fight club.

*hits chest*

So when I rushed, late, into the control room for Parker/Spitzer my last night this week, slipping quickly into the chair and under my headset, I was surprised to have a smiling face beside me telling me, "Hi!" and then "no worries!" when I tried explaining someone had told me the wrong control room.
This was my first time prompting for the show, and it was everything but, a fight club.
The man beside me, an executive producer?, gave me tips and chatted about possible reasons they MAY yell, and why I shouldn't take offense.
Bizarre.
Many "please" and "thank you"s flew about too, in a steady flow of calm voices. (I suppose this is what prompting for "American Morning" is like then too, as I hear they're always relaxed.)

360 has a lot more that goes into it, to try and explain a little in my opinion. The host hardly reads straight from the script/prompter, asks his own questions, and the program often includes live, on the fly coverage which makes everyone incapable of getting cozy in their seats -- no sitting back here.
They're brilliant.

...Happy to say I'm back to prompting for 360 again this week.

"Hit me!"

It's the night's challenge to see if I can not "F* it up."
So much fun. ^_^

In other news,
ski pants (bright orange) and gloves (hot pink) have come in the mail ^_^!
Kate and I are hoping to go out next Friday. She's enthusiastic to impress me with her mad skillz on the slopes (though I'll be up and down with the kiddies).
