Where I stayed
Doing my research, I've learned that you have to have a boat on this lake - sooo, the very best price in town was a catamaran rental from Skylite rentals, www.skylite.net 10 miles from our RV park. Catamaran is the same price as a sea-doo, but it is like a boat - storage, shade, all 4 of us and Opie were very comfortable on it. Skylite is a family run place, very nice to deal with, very helpful and they do have a great selection for the best price. Our catamaran was so very fun, used maybe 12 gal. of gas for 3 day rental and it was so easy to put in the water and maneuver. Every day we did go to a different part of the lake and even survived one windy day on our return to the dock. If you want a sea-do fun with a comfort of a boat - catamaran is your option. It is great for family and for people like us who are not in to the fast, expensive gas spitting speed boats :-)
Lake Powell is so nice - clean warm water, great landscape, different places to go, we could spend weeks here and not see everything. Water is an absolute must for anybody who likes to swim - it is like Adriatic Sea but w/out the salt. I loved it!!!! Marina could stay in the water for a long time and not get cold. Temperature is above 70 and even warmer in some places. It feels like a sea. I am already thinking about our next visit here. We did extend our stay from 3 to 5 days and are very happy we were able to stay (they are all booked up here) It is hot here, but with all the water around, it doesn't feel too bad. Only time we got really hot was coming back in our hot RV - we would leave it all day at the launch ramp.
Opie learned how to swim and learned that this water is OK, it will cool him off and it is fun. He learned how to jump in like my girls and would just go for a swim by himself - few circles and sunbathe! It was so fun to watch him!
Lake Powell is a must for anybody in this part of the world and rent a vessel from Skylite, we just loved them!
Interesting fact for Lake Powell is that almost everybody here visiting is European!!! It feels like home to me! We just didn't expect to find half of European tourists in desert in Utah/Arizona :-)
