Had been a few days since we arrived and glad to say that the house are in proper order now that we had unpack and everything.
What Gyotoku had to offer? Hhmm... so far, we found out there are one department store, which is called SEIYU, there are city hall nearby (where all foreign resident staying for the period over 90 days need to register and apply for an alien card, will explain on this later), hospitals (name it and we have it here from general hospital, maternity hospital as well as animal hospital)a clinic where the doctor speaks Indonesian language! and this become handy when we are not feeling well, recycle shop (this is very popular), library (and it has English story books although not that many), two 100 yen shop (this is the best as everything is cheap here, you name it and they have it), one 99 shop (hehehe, again... cheap bargain) and the list goes on.
What I like about this place is because to me it is very convenient, the rent is low if compared to other area especially in central Tokyo, everything is within reach (it takes only 30 minutes train ride to central Tokyo, which is considered near) and the people here are friendly. Eventhough they sometimes tried to communicate with us but given the language barrier, its the effort than count, wouldn't it? ;-)
Oh yeah, the most important aspect, transportation (given that we dont have car as what we used to have in our country). There are 2 train stations here, Gyotoku Station (Tokyo Metro Tozai Line) and Ichikawashiohama Station (JR line, but this is a bit further from central Gyotoku). The trains are always crowded especially during the peak hours and unless you have important things to atend to, please try to avoid taking the train. I'm not kidding as it is really packed and there are no empty space left that are not being fill in by people who would try to squeeze in the train. One good thing though, the train are realiable, especially during peak hours as it is very frequent, every 2-3 minutes there will be train coming.
I might write on my observation regarding train etiquette and what the Japanese usually do while commuting in my next entry...
Until then, everyday is a new discoveries...
