No wake up call from crappy staff in Memphis and watch still set to Nevada time so arrive for 9am bus at 9:10. LUCKILY bus hadn't left and welly kind bus driver waits for us, even without a reservation! Dramarama! However...welly kind bus driver leaves annoying guy from Louisiana (who just looooves tourists) in the middle of nowhere as he didn't tell anyone to get off the bus when he stopped (probably for a fag). Arrive in New Orleans at 9pm, heard great things so excited! Homely hostel, wicked for socialising if a bit far out but has it's own pool and massive kitchens. Drink a magnum of wine whilst meeting people.
Best feeling in the world: Cold shower in hot sunshine.
Also, the best cure for a wine hangover, along with a swimming pool.
Wander the streets exploring and melting. Amazing place; clean, green and beautiful. Randomly walk past a man on a bike with a massive snake round his neck and a guy with no shoes on and peace tattoos coming back with what looked like his weekly shop. Hostel holds the worst open mic ever, shocking! Drinking in hostel with people. Pavement drinking on Bourbon Street. Reggae night on Frenchman Street = massively drunk, bump into Aussies from Nashville. New mate reprebatory Ryan, the man of a thousand faces. Hand Grenades, Hurricane, Dirty Martinis and Tequila. Bands and Betty.
Chilling by pool, savaged by mossies overnight. Try to celebrate Jack Daniel's Birthday buy physically unable.
Sat night on Bourbon Street=pretty rank. Messy, really watsed, sweaty people. Uncomfortably hot, loads of strippers but same great music, brass bands on the street, po'boys and gumbo.
