My first time beyond the world I have come to know since arriving in Paraguay...Betania, Luque, Asuncion I know well, but what else is out there? Packed our gear (i took a sleeping bag, pillow, duffle bag and backpack. A week before the trip we met as a team each night and prayed together. The day was Tues., that night we took a bus to Asuncion and from there the another bus overnight. This would be my first of many bus trips over the months. Now, Paragauyan bus are a story to themselves. I sat by the open window watching the dark country passby. Each stop we made after leaving the terminal more people got on, even when all the seats were filled the bus dirver just kept letting them get on. In fact, it tight. I fell alseep and woke up when we came to a stopped...nature's call immediately came to my attention, but I looked up (we were sitting near the middle) and saw nothing but bodies crammed like sardines. I nudged Alicja, "I gotta go to the bathroom." She looked from me to mob (cause there were more trying to get on) shaking her head. "There is no way you can even get to the door!"
"I am goining!" I said and proceeded to crawl, push, wiggle and all the other things you can think of to get off that bus.

We were dropped off in the middle of no where...literally on the side of the road with nothing but some wooden houses and grass. But we were right where we needed to be. To this day I'm not exactly sure where we were in Paragauy, but by the talk I overheard--- somewhere in northeastern part of the country, near the border of Brazil.
