Where I stayed
Had a lovely phone call from Mum, Karol and Rob! Haven't spoken to any of them in almost a month so it was really appreciated – not long till Im home! :)
Long day planned so we set off earlyish! We had a wander around Fisherman’s Wharf which was really lovely to see all the boats etc! And we saw the "real" Golden Gate Bridge! Finally spotted it lol!
Headed to our bike rental place! They gave me a bike which was for tall people and I struggled to get my leg over – wheyyy cheeky! Bet the guy helping me out was finding it hilarious to see me try and get on and off without making a fool of myself – not really possible is it? All the guys working there were so enthusiastic and over excited! I loved it – don’t think Emily and Emma felt the same though..
Anyways we set off on our route! It was so lovely until we had to cycle up hill! I tried and failed so I decided not to kill myself and chose to walk up instead (its the first time I’ve ridden a bike in YEARS – its totally acceptable) Got to the Golden Gate Bridge which was so immense! And really windy!!!! Stopped a couple of times along the way and got shouted at by the local hard core cyclers because our bikes were in the way! They should know better – it is a tourist attraction after all!
Once across the bridge we cycled to Sausalito – pretty much all downhill which was bundles of fun – although Emily almost fell off her bike at one point but everything was fine!
Sausalito was lovely but so packed with people! We stopped and had some lunch and definitely got ripped off but whatever!
Got the ferry back! Kinda got on the wrong one so once we got to the ferry port we had 3km cycle to the bike shop. Needless to say – after having been on the ferry for a while – getting back on the bike made my bum bum hurt even more than it already did – thank got my burn has gone down or I would be one unhappy bunny
Anyways in total we cycled 15km! Really proud of us! It was a great way to see the city and get some excercise – didn’t love the fact there was a few uphill points but we powered through! Although Ill defs be in pain for a day or two.
On our way back we drove through Haight Ashbury – it was really cool! It use to be the hippe hang out (hence why I loved it) but now its just full of cool people and shops! Due to timing we headed back to the hotel to make use of the free cocktails at the hotel before 7:30pm! Lovely!
Just the perfect ending to a great day!
