Where I stayed
Today was a lot more successful.
First thing we headed to Venice Beach and had a lovely stroll by the sea. The sun was out (yep – burnt my shoulder....i say shoulder because i was wearing an off the shoulder jumper so only one shoulder was exposed/burnt! Yay for ridiculous patchy tanning), it was so lovely and warm with a really nice breeze. We even dipped our feet in the ocean!
We saw some right characters along the beach..one in particular was a middle aged man who just stripped off near by us...he was clearly doing some serious tanning and turns out he was only wearing a thong....yet he was determined to continue to wear his socks and trainers...nice one!
We moved onto the boardwalk and walked past all the market stands selling random things. As we walked along a big black man jumped up infront of us (no idea where he came from) and looked me right in the face and said "mhmmm you are seriously a black mans dream" to which i just started giggling at...he kept trying to shake my hand but i just kept on laughing and walked away with my bag hiding my bum. The two locals that were near by were just like “haha i bet you don't hear that all the time...welcome to California” haha yeah thanks! Needless to say on our way back down the boardwalk we made a detour so we didn’t have any more awkward moments!
Although, i saying that i did get another compliment when another guy said that i looked like “the cool one, I can tell”....well...what can I say..he clearly knows what’s right in the world! Haha just kidding!
We got to walk past the infamous Muscle Beach...hilarious yet slightly crazy how serious and intense everyone is working out there...definitely some potential Arnold Schwarzerneggers in there!
Anyways we stopped for lunch in a cafe and refreshed ourselves as it was getting warm! We then headed back to the car. We absolutely loved Venice Beach...it was just so quirky and fun and all the people there (even the weird ones) just seemed so chill. I loved how everyone was just cycling and skateboarding around and all the surfers and stuff...i bet in the summer it’s AMAZING!
We dropped the car off at the hostel and walked to Hollywood Boulevard...the walk was longer than we had anticipated and because it was so warm by the time we got there we were all pretty hot and tired! We walked along the Walk of Fame and had a browse at all the hand and foot prints outside Chinese Theatre.
Back at the hostel we decided we should go for round two of the Hollywood Sign – this time in the daylight! Well worth it! We all got a few fabulous piccys then headed back to the hostel to pack and get ready for dinner.
Dinner was lovely. We went to a Mexican restaurant called El Cayote. The place was really dodgy from the outside but was so cool on the inside with fairy lights and Mexican themed decorations everywhere.
Ofcourse we all had margaritas...standard. and we ate so many of the free nachos before our main meal that we were no where near finishing our food...need to stop doing that lol.
There was even a guy walking around serenading people with Mexican songs....he walked past us like 10 times and didn’t serenade us....we were really upset....
Sad times.
Even sadder times is that Jess is going home to tomorrow....And that means the end of the trip!!!! Noooooooooo! Its been so amazing and i don’t want it to end....but i still have another week with Emily and Emma...won’t be the same without Jess and Duke though...it’s been the best!
Lots of lurrrrve
