So we left Lake Havasu – we had a good time but I was definitely suffering from some minor burns on my bum! Not good times.

We made somewhat of a detour on route to Barstow...it was inevitable and we just had to go whilst we were in the area...LAS VEGAS BABY! It was well worth it! We will definitely have to go back some point and spend longer than a day there...

When we arrived we took Duke for a spin down the main strip to check out where everything was and decided to park at the MGM Grande....we weren't sure if we needed to pay to park but we didn’t pay a cent so assuming parking in casino’s in Vegas is free? Bonus!

We decided to walk up the strip rather than getting the metrolink so that we got to see sights. We stopped at Hard Rock Cafe for some lunch and were forced to take a cringe photo on a fake catwalk and i had to hold a guitar...it was so cringe...obviously neither of us bought the photo and it was destroyed so no one will ever get to see it....what a shame.

We stopped at the Bellagio and watched the water fountain show thing which was beautiful and really well done! We looked out for Brad Pitt and George Clooney incase they wanted to wisk us away during one of their casino robberies...but i guess they just weren’t in the area! :(

Next stop was Ceaser’s Palace – really cool but didn’t see any "live" statues or any Joey Tribianni’s wandering about but that’s fine we still loved it.

Crossed over the road and had a wander around The Venetian and watched a few gondola’s float passed...one in particular was especially mental with a singing woman serenading her passengers...thank god we weren’t on it because we would have laughed so much that the gondola would have tipped over and I did not feel like getting my hair wet.

Walking back down the strip was hilarious...it was like we were drunk but we didn’t drink anything..i think its just the atmosphere there and the fact that people are walking down the street with foot long glasses of margaritas and other cocktails.

We were determined to go to The Sugar Factory to get ourselves a treat but I kept calling it other names as I could not remember. Anyways...once we got there we realised how expensive it was and after all that we didn’t end up getting anything.

One crazy thing about Las Vegas which i didn’t realise the extent off was the advertising of strip clubs etc with the street vendors slapping cards together to grab your attention and trying to force cards with pictures of naked women on into your hands. There was even a moving billboard that drove up and down the strip advertising “HotBabesDirect” and “HotAss”....Vegas is clearly not the place for young kids...although we did see a number of families which surprised me.

Back at the MGM we watched the Lions in the Lion Habitat for a bit while their keepers played with them. It was really cute.

We said our goodbyes to Vegas and set off on our journey through the Mojave desert to Barstow. We thought that it would literally be desert and no petrol stations but luckily we found a few on route. The desert was really beautiful though...really vast and lonely (but in a nice way). We got a bit worried at one point as we drove into a massive dark cloud which we thought would be stormy but just turns out it was probably dark because we were in the middle of no where with no artificial light.

We had one sad moment in the desert when a small animal ran out into the road....there was nothing that we could do...may he rest in peace..

Luckily i didn’t see anything..i was to preoccupied looking out the into the desert to realise what was happening ahead of me...but it was still sad none the less. Well done to Jess for staying strong through it!

As we drove into California we had to stop for a “routine” check by the Department of Agriculture or something to check we weren’t smuggling any trees or oranges in with us..which we weren’t but fun times when the woman asked us to open the boot (trunk) and had a little inspection!

Arrived in Barstow quite late so we decided to just grab some food from the Shell Garage but were completely unsuccessful so we had to submit to a McDonalds....unfortunately Ronald McDonald aka scary lifesize clown was sitting in the entrance so I had to walk in without looking which was especially enjoyable with people leaving the building thinking i was a complete nut job! Good times! Lol

Our hotel was ok but our room really smelt a bit odd and the shower curtain was closed...leaving Jess and I thinking there was an axe murderer hiding in there.....Jess picked up the courage to open it and luckily we were safe for another night! :D

Xoxo
