Where I stayed
Today we left the Chicago Getaway Hostel :( sad times. We hoped in a taxi and headed to the airport to pick up our car for the rest of the trip.
Once we were at the rental place we were greeted by, the initially scary, Jackie who soon became our favourite person EVER! As we were almost finishing all the info/paperwork she asked if we wanted an upgrade. And ofcourse Jess and I were curious. And then everything just turned for the better when our upgrade became a Ford Mustang! The start to our road trip just turned into AWESOMENESS!
As we sat in the car about to leave neither of us could believe that we were actually sitting in such an amazing car
Everyone we’ve passed has watched us drive passed. We were even stopped at some traffic lights and the girl next to us just smiled and nodded with a mutual appreciation! Ofcourse me and jess just screamed with extreme excitement.
Ahhhh i still cant get over how cool it is....
We stopped in Joliet....not really anything too special and we got roped into some museum and ended up being toured around by a little old lady and we just didn’t have the heart to rush her. But it was all very boring...haha
Next stop was Pontiac where we walked across some suspended bridges and took a bunch of photos of murals on the walls. It was such a cute town...very quaint an pretty. And our sexy Mustang just looked sooooo amazing.
My highlight of the day was when we were just driving along some open fields with some good music playing and the sun slightly setting
Got lost a couple of times along the trip today...nothing too bad! Jess’ awesome driving and my amazing map skills managed to get us back on track each time so its all good. Although we did have one occasion where we thought we’d end up driving to St.Louis a day early...luckily things worked out for us and we reached our destination of Bloomington, IL.
Our motel/hotel is cute..nothing special...but just what we wanted. And we have a perfect view of our baby through the window.
Went for dinner in the downtown area....all very old and almost rundown but really pretty...it actually reminded me of somewhere down south (kinda like a smaller Memphis....). We ended up at a little Italian restaurant called Lucca’s (which is an official Route 66 nominated restaurant). It was delicious! Although, my pizza was so spicy my lips were burning!
