What lucky creatures we are, in the Caribbean for Carnaval  (and just after Galapagos as well!).
We had not anticipated the Carnival, so were lucky to find a lovely place to stay last minute!
The place was family run and really lovely, and the owners son got married on the weekend and we helped out & took some video so was nice to experience a wedding- Island style!

We hired a car for a few days, so we got a chance to cruise the island and visit some great beaches like Kleine and Grote Knip, and one really nice little beach where we went snorkelling- truly some of the most colours and fish we have seen along the trip (see underwater pics).

We also cruised to the nearby Aloe Vera farm and went for a small safari cruise at the Ostrich farm- the cheesy tourist thing to do, but quite lovely and informative.

On one of the last days we cruised along with the group of people that were there for the wedding to 'Klein Curacao' (Little Curacao), about an hour off the coast with the most amazingly blue water. We got to snorkel, laze around, gorge on food and drinks, read books....you get the drill. At one point we threw some left overs in the grass and hundreds of hermit vcrabs & lizzards came to attack the left over spare ribs (see the crazy crab-gathering below!)

And of course Carnaval- endless parades of colours and themes, dancing and jumping to the bands and music playing for hours and hours, followed by fireworks and sore feet!

The little island, part of the Dutch Caribbean, was a crazy mixture of multi cultural tropics with bizzare hints of Dutchness . Not enough time- Loving the Island life too much!
