New Years was really fun.  We stayed at a posada called Jakera, in Playa Colorado - another small beach town in the North, also part of a National Park. Kinda like Puerto Colombia, but not as crowded.  During the day we went on a kayaking trip out to these islands.  I had to share a boat with Tom, the perv.  He was steering but I was doing all of the rowing for both of us, so finally I asked for another kayak, a single person one.  We did some snorkeling and saw lots of pretty coral ( I stole some purple coral from the beach because I am truly evil and pay no regard to preserving nature). We saw lots of dolphins while we were out, and past a bunch of birds, like Nazca Boobies and Pelicans.  I have come to realize that the smell of bird shit is probably the most challenging for my stomach to handle, but maybe that's because of the time I got sick on the way to Lima and we had to visit those islands made of caca.  I will never be the same, I reckon.
After the day long kayaking adventure we got ready for the big New Years soiree.  Our posada was hosting one of the biggest parties in town, and so tons of people showed up, including this guy from Brooklyn that I had met when I was in Puerto Colombia.  It was one of the few times on my trip that I saw anyone that I already knew - made me realize that I miss going places and just knowing people off hand.  Anyways, we had a fun night, but it was mellow by San Francisco standards.  Still, I let those people know where I was from - werd!
New Years day I got to do some rock climbing because they had one of those walls in our posada.  I liked it.  I made it to the top.  But I cheated and grabbed the side of the wall. hehe...
