.....We're leaving today! We made it to New York after almost 7 hours in the air.  After all our 1hour RyanAir flights, this flight really seemed tiring.  However there was food included, two meals in fact, and unlimited alcohol!  And of course, in flight entertainment!  We watched a couple of films, and before we knew it we were arriving in the Big Apple!  After collecting all our belongings, getting our bearings, hopping on a airport train (still unsure why Melbourne doesn't have one yet!) we found ourselves in Downdown New York City.... Let the fun begin! It was actually hard to beleive that we were in New York city! The first thing we did notice on the subways was that there was NO esculators which meany lugging our bags up flights of stairs! this was frustrating! We managed to find our hotel alot easy than other times around Europe seeing as the streets go in numbers and letters! We were glad to put our bags down! Seeing as it was quite late we found a local market and picked up a few supplies and called it a night.

7am!! Early start to the day and Times Square was our first stop! We headed off on foot unitl the rain started pelting down! Did someone say we should take our umberella? Well Courtney did although the rain came through it! We pretty much ran all the way down Broadway until we reached a shopping centre near the Trumph Tower! We stayed there until the rain settled a little. We felt as though we were in a Gene Kelly Movie! We stumbled across the David Letterman theartre before reaching Times Sqaure. Picadilly Circus in London does not compare in the least! The whole street was lit up by flashing billboards we didnt know where to look. We came across Hersheys chocolates wherewe made a few purchases before heading over to the HUGE M&M world across the road, they had everything you could imagine! Oh what do you know there was the Vicoria's Secret right there in front of us. We could not go past this one! After almost 2 hours of dragging Nelson around (I'm sure he didnt mind) i made my purchase and we moved on to the next store. We were stopped by some guy selling comedy show tickets at a local club where Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock sometimes make an apperance so we took the offer and that was the plans for that night taken care off. It was quite amusing, especially when Nelson was pin pointed for the joke about being a terrorist!

November the 16th, it was Courtneys Birthday and so much to see and do. We made our way to the Statue of Liberty which was quite a sight to see. Mind you it was the coldest day in a long time and we felt it walking along the edge of the water. The World Trade Centre site was next on the list and it was hard to imagine those 2 buildings stood right there in front of us. The massive gap that remained was a chilling memory of September 11. From here we wandered onto the famous Wall St, eating a hot dog where high flying stock brokers and merchant bankers buy their hot dogs from. Without realising we managed to stumble across Tiffany & Co! Of course Nelson bought me the $500,000 Tiffany ring for my birthday!!!! I WISH! This store is amazing though we felt a little undressed compared to those that were in there purchasing all sorts. We couldnt leave New York without strolling through Central Park!! Seeing as we were not going to Texas what better way to sample the food than to go to a Texas BBQ restaurant. WOW the meals were HUGE! For the first time since we have known each other Nelson could not finish his meal. This could have been from the litre cocktails that we drank before hand. We rolled out of the restaurant back to the hotel, packed our suitcases ready to depart for the Nations Capital WASHINGTON DC!
