First of all, I'd like to thank whoever ordered perfect weather for me. It's been amazing here in Israel. If it's hot, then there's a breeze. Otherwise, it's been nice and cool once the sun has gone down.
Yesterday, my grandfather dropped my grandmother and myself off at a street market called Nechlat Bin'Yamin. It happens every Tuesday and Friday. A lot of artists have booths there with awesome junk, as well as things that are actually useful. My grandmother bought me carrot juice from a guy who was trying to convince her to let him take me out right after he was trying to sweet talk some poor high school aged girl (this, by the way, is why I don't date Israelis). I bought a picture made of ceramic with a glass backing by a local Russian artist named Nina Solodeev who was a total sweetheart.
Then my grandfather picked us up and we went to the harbor in Tel Aviv to meet up with my cousin, Elior, and his girlfriend, Dar. We had lunch at CafeCafe. I had THE most amazing salad ever. If only it had goat cheese......But it was still awesome. It had fresh fruit, like kiwi and apples, with baby greens, cashews, walnuts, tomatoes, onions, and sweet potatoes roasted in a honey-mustard vinagrette. Yeah.....totally amazing. And there was the greatest breeze. Perfect. So then we went home and relaxed. I showed my grandmother pictures of all my friends and got some video footage of her on my computer.
Today I slept in, which is always fantastic. Then my grandfather took my grandmother and myself to my uncle, Moshe's, house. I got to hang out with my cousins Hadar (soon to be 11) and Kfir (soon to be 5, who didn't remember me). Hadar and I took the dog, Riff (really cute, but slobbery boxer) for a walk. Then she went to her tennis practice and my grandmother and I took Kfir to the mall down the street. I bought him a sword that lights up and makes noises for his birthday, since I won't be here for it. When we got back, my cousin, Bar (16) had already come home from school. We took Riff for another walk with Kfir. Then we came back, watched Titanic, ate dinner, and then my aunt, Vered, came home from work at around 9pm. We chilled, watched the Israeli version of Survivor (every single show that we have in America, Israel must copy, it's hilarious). My uncle FINALLY showed up at around 10:30ish and at around 11:30ish he took my grandmother and myself home.
Just some awesome news to make you all jealous- Depeche Mode is playing in Israel this Sunday, and there's actually a chance I might go!!!! Pray for me!!!!!!!!!
Love you all, hope all is going well in the States and that you don't all have swine flu.~Neili
