Time to explore another National Park!

Completed our little scenic drive...still very earl...which was lovely cause everywhere was still peaceful and untouched! Found a cool little beach...the only one on Acadia...was really pretty, golden sand and blue sea...paradise!!!

The rest of the drive was okay, but not amazing...headed off to other side of pennisula..bevcause i had decided i wanted to do a walk! We had time and i wanted to see some real countryside...the car is fun...but walking is better. Got a list of walks and picked a strenous uphill one - yes i clearly was feeling very unwell!!
The walk was cool...up through forest...having to scramble up large rocks...even almost rock climb!! The views were pretty cool at the top too...and i made it without too much winging! I like being happy - if only it was blue moon more often!
The route back down was very interesting...it had said it was steep...and they weren't kidding...it was almost vertical at times!! Was fun...till my ankles got tired and i slipped! Landed on my backside on a big pointed ledge...fortunately i got lots of padding so was okay! I enjoyed the walk...very odd!

Drove to Bangor next. Was pretty much as i expected. A nothing town. Was fun to see it though...having read so much about the area in Stephen Kings books. The highlight was buying my spork..to replace the cutlery i had dumbly lost! Also found a perfect picnic spot here....just when we wanted one for once. Ate boston beans on toast out of a bowl on the biggest picnic bench ever!

Then on to Augusta...where my opinion of Maine changed a little! Augusta is the state capital of Maine...so we expected there to be something vaguely interesting there? Well there was there was big shiny government building and huge carpark...but that was it...literally! The place was minute with absolutley nothing there! No coffee shops, no shops no nothing...except a few houses....didn't understand the place so left!

Time to find a campsite....headed back towards Portsmouth...but no campsites...nothing to be honest...compared to the road on the coast it was deadhole! A few farms was all...kept following the road....till we suddenly came to a dead end! Litteraly..any further and we would be in the sea! Turns out the road had ended miles back and we should have turned off...only the map didn't tell us that....turned round (again) and ended up driving all the way back to the site in Freeport we had stayed before...was a good job as it was now dark!

Bed time - a disappointing afternoon after a fun morning!
