We had decided we were gonna have a look at the freedom trail so headed off to find it.....was kinda cool....went around the old state house and meeting rooms, a site of an old school, the old city hall (which incidentally had been a restaurant since the americans discovered building recycling), a couple of old grave yards where fairly significant folk from the cities history were buried. There included several guys who'd signed the declaration of independance, those who died in the boston massacre and a couple who'd been involved in the tea party
After heading back to the town markets to wot proved to be the coolest food court ever we collected the car and attempted to leave town....
Only Boston wasnt letting us go so easy, we ended up taking some mega road under the sea to a different part of town and then ended up getting some big bridge someplace else, costing us three bucks for the priviledge.
Then we headed out of town when we finally found the right road. Little did we know it turned into a toll road when we hit new hampshire and started ripping us off a buck every few miles. Hit the visitors centre for a free map..... which amy replied 'wot bloody gud is that' as it was a new hampshire one and we were heading for maine.
Then headed into portmouth which sounded cool in the guide book, picked up some local info and an enormous amount of waffle in the local visitors centre and went to look.
After parking illegally.......something that wasnt to be a one off....we went to look around. There were alot of old buildings and a naval base....then found the cheapest ice cream ever at 25c.... mmmm yummy fudge ice cream......
Then we found are favourite bit, cute little streets of brick shops, cafes and restaurants......pity we couldnt afford to explore it like we used to back home!!!!!
After getting groceries headed off to find campsite..... drove past the road about 6 times, not that i ever turn round!!!!!
Found a cool campsite, down by the shore, loads of trees and nice sandy beaches. Were gonna explore but the mist descended so we cooked tea and had an early night. We were knackered having not slept well on the bus the night before.
