Aug 16 -
Thurs - Xi'an - shopping, train - 16 hours - another train fight, nap, dinner, beer and cards, bugger all sleep, 4.45 wake up
Fri - arrive Chengdu - tired people, broken down bus, fawlty towers, questionable, panda photos, vegie temple lunch, tired people, nap time, teahouse cards and massage, culture street, starbucks, local street ballet and ballroom dancing, Yulin our guide describing local men as short, ugly but easily controllable
Sat - leave Chengdu - bus to giant buddha, avg, arrive Emei Shan monastery, Patrick and great food
Sun - bus and cable car to another buddha, monorail, relentlless scaremongering about trip down - snakes, monkeys, etc Eugenie out of control - easy walk although 6 hours all the same. loads of tourists, some cool monkey baiting, nice monastery, hard wok cafe
Mon - pancakes, 4 hr walk down, hot springs, remarkable amounts of sweat by day, mosquitos by nights, ray commenting on sharks attacking newlyweds in south australia - "must be after some sort of smell"
