Did you know that there were two 5 o'clocks today?

Ian has booked a taxi to take us to the airport, we’re being picked up at 5.15 am......yep am, that means morning !!!!! A fairly uneventful flight to Cairns, then we need to get to Port Douglas and there is a shuttle bus service at the airport $70 return....not bad when you consider that it’s $180 each way in a cab, the only thing is we have to drop other people off on the way to Port Douglas so we take a few detours. I spot a Roo by the roadside, but I think he must be tired 'cos he’s asleep !!!! It doesn’t take too long and we’re outside our apartments, it’s now about 10.30 and officially we’re not supposed to get in the room until 2pm, but they are having 2 new ceiling fans fitted to the bedrooms and if we don’t mind the workman being here we can go in straight away, so we dump our stuff and head off on a food forage....Ian is defiantly my son ....he’s always hungry. We’ve not had much of a look around  ‘cos it’s too darn hot, but Port Douglas is looking good, quite a few little shops to browse around, a few bars and restaurants and a supermarket. Our apartment is amazing.... it’s huge, 3 bedrooms, one with an en suite (we claimed that as ours) another double bedroom with a bathroom and shower next door, a huge open plan kitchen and lounge and a lovely balcony. In fact we’re sitting on the balcony now listening to the sea, which is less than 100 yards away, and we’ve just had our first Barbie. We had red snapper and barramundi cooked on an electric barbie, never cooked either fish or used an electric Barbie before, so quite surprised when it tasted really good. We’ve been down to the beach for a bit...it’s called 4 mile beach (I’m not gonna measure it) and had a swim. I think it is the warmest sea I’ve ever been in!!!!  It’s really hot here 29 deg this afternoon and still 25 at 8:30 and  much more humid than it was in Brisbane. We don’t have free wi-fi here, so we’re gonna have to blog when we can...so don’t worry if you don’t hear from us for a day or two  We’re quite tired and we’ve got a trip booked for tomorrow, snorkeling on the reef, so I think it’s an early night for us.
