Day One - At the check in desk of my hotel i was issued with a key card for a room on the 17th floor i was told that there was construction going on across the street but they had put me high up so it should not be a problem. The room itself was reasonably spacious, but very basic. There was an ice machine down the hall to fill the ice bucket but it was not producing any ice. After settling in my room i headed down to eat. The hotel had 5 restaurants and a pub so i decided to try one of them. I chose the brassierie which was their mid priced option. I had the burger and fries, i can say that it was the worst meal i had on the whole trip. The burger although well stacked was overcooked and the fries were supposed to be crispy but were slightly soggy like they had been kept warm for hours. After dinner i did some internet surfing in the lobby. (It seemed that the larger the hotel the less free services are on offer, including internet access). After surfing i headed to my room for some TV and some sleep.

Day Two - This day began at 6am, not by choice, the construction across the road which would not be a problem woke me. After laying around until 10am i headed out for a look around. I took a walk down through the financial district. It was full of high rise buildings which could have been in any city in the world. I walked on down to the harbour and considered getting the ferry across to the island, however on my bus journey from the airport had told me that there was nothing on the island apart from a kids amusement park. So i took a walk along the sea-front and then up to the rogers stadium (the Toronto baseball stadium. Next door to the stadium was the CN Tower, it could be seen all over the city. At the tower i saw that the ticket to ride the elevator to the viewing platform was around 25 so i decided not to ride. I then walked back up the centre of the city to the university district while looking for somewhere to eat lunch. Not finding anywhere i liked the look of i headed back to the hotel. Arriving at the hotel i noticed a pizza pizza store which a friend had recommended i try so i went in and ordered pizza by the slice. Chicken and sweet chilli. It was as good as my friend had suggested and very filling so i headed back to the hotel lobby to email my friend to thank him for the suggestion. After eating i headed back to my hotel room for a snooze and for some American TV. After sleeping for a while i headed to the market garden for dinner. I selected the chicken wings and when ready the server covered the plate with fries and then covered the fries with chicken wings. After eating the wings a quick surf of the internet in the lobby and then i headed back to my room to retire for the night.

Day Three - This day also began at 6am for the same reason as the previous day. Today was to be the day trip to Niagara falls. So after a little mooching around in my room and some getting ready i headed down to the front entrance to wait for the excursion pick-up. To read more about the excursion to Niagara please read the blog 'Niagara - Water From Every Angle'. On arriving back from the excursion i headed to the market garden and has a pizza slice (at least i could be sure what i was being served. After eating i made my way to my room to watch more American TV and to retire for the night.

Day Four - This day for the third day running began at 6am, i had an 11am checkout from the hotel room. And it was time to head home, not before quite a lot of hanging around. The room was to be vacated by 11am but the bus pick-up was not until 2pm, so i went to the self service market restaurant and got some more pizza. I sat and ate the pizza and then went for a walk. Canada had declared the previous day that it was the end of summer so of course it was 27 degrees. I didn't get very far as i was not dressed for summer so i headed back to the hotel lobby and surfed the internet for a while. At around 2pm the bus arrive and i boarded. The bus then went to each hotel in town, the reverse of the journey in before taking us to Toronto airport. On arrival at Toronto airport i discovered that all Air Canada international flights were checked in from one queue served by very few baggage drop counters, as such i was in the queue for about 45 minutes waiting to check my suitcase. Once through this it was on to security 4 security gates one of which was a priority queue so another wait. Then onto the lounge where i sat for 2hrs waiting for boarding. Luckily a couple i met on the Niagara trip were on the same flight so i sat and chatted with them for some of the wait. We then boarded the plane and took the seven hour flight back to London. The meal was pretty much the same except that the wrap had been replaced by a breakfast muffin and the feta salad had become mango. The movie were the same again but i managed to find a couple to watch in an obscure sub-section. I met a nice austrian couple who i was sitting next to. Nice but they did insist on reading the entire journey, normally this would have been fine however it being a night flight having spotlights shining about my head meant that i got no sleep on the entire flight.
