Got up with a fever and a running nose - nothing a Paracetamol souldn't fix. Didn't realize that the makeshift first aid kid I had put together would be coming in handy this soon. After confirming the weekend's plans with Vaibhav living in Manchester and making my reservation on megabus.com, I took the scenic route to Victoria station to catch my bus. Waking along the Victoria embankment spewed sights like the London Eye, the London Aquarium, the Parliament houses and the Westminster Abbey, and I think what was the Big Ben. Managed to go around in circles quite a few times but not being afraid of being lost, it was all worth it (many times over!). For someone who had been leaving all the 20p coins back at home I finally realized their value when I needed one to get through the turnstile at a 'public' restroom. Finally boarded the bus only to realize 10 minutes into the journey that 'mega bus' was an acronym for "Might Everone Get Asphyxiated But Us don't Stop". Seriously, it might be cheap but it ain't pretty when you swelter your way to Manchester in what could only be an agonizing eternity. The cars on the English highway provided on the only respite and if you haven't been to one of the fancy auto shows, take a drive on the English highways (going into / out of London) on any given summer weekend. I reached Manchester breathlessly and 'freedom' is all I could think - freedom from the mega bus penitentiary. I found my way easily to Vaibhav's place and met his beautiful wife Kanupriya and her lovely friend Pooja. We chatted, had a drink and then I was treated to the best meal in a loooong time - home cooked with all the tradiotnal Indian spices, love and all. Oh, did I forget to Manchester is quite the lovely town with open air restaurants and bars spotting the city, a canal that runs through the city and what seemed like the perfect ambience for a happening and action-packed nightlife.
