i caught the train out to como and hung around the bus stop for over half an hour before i worked out i was waiting for the wrong bus! i eventually made it into town and had a quick walk around 2 of the town squares and along the water front before getting on the water bus for the 1 hour trip up the lake to bellagio. the trip was really pretty, we went past all the little towns and big houses, the scenery was very dramatic! bellagio is one of the most touristy towns on the lake, for a good reason! i walked along the water front there towards a tourist attraction villa and gardens but i decided not to go in so i walked back! the water was so blue and clear, it really made me want to go swimming! back in the town i walked up the hill through the narrow streets to find a main-ish street at the top with lots of shops and cute houses. i managed to find some food along there which was really exciting! after that i walked down to the other end of the town to the place where the three arms of lake como meet. there was a small harbour there (and lots of midgies) but the view was amazing. after enjoying the sun (and the heat - 13 degrees!) for a while i walked back into the town and sat on the waterfront to watch the sunset. i caught a dusk ferry back to como and then the train back to milan. definitely a worthwhile day trip!
