i caught the train to prague from germany using the first of 15 days on my eurail pass! the trip was really pretty once we crossed the border into the czech republic, the train followed a river all the way into prague. the prague train station is ridiculous, it was all hiding from me! but i eventually found my way to my (very cute) hostel in the old town. had a bit of a walk around, sticking to the streets that were in the sun! eventually i retired to my hostel, via the trillions of identical souvenier shops! prague is definitely the mot touristy city i've ever been to! the next day i headed to the main square to do a walking tour, found at least 5 different companies offering the tips-only tours. there were 4 other people on the one i chose and our guide, jana, took us around the old town, the jewish quarter and the new town. after that i went to a traditional czech restaurant with 2 american girls from the tour. we had garlic soup and apricot dumplings with cheese curd. it was actually really nice! in the afternoon we went with the same guide on a tour of the other side of the river to the castle area. prague has the largest castle complex in europe, it sits on top of a hill and has really nice views over the city. the next day i walked along the river to the fred and ginger building, a famous building by frank gehry. then i caught the train back to berlin where i went to the umbilical brothers (an australian comedy duo) with amy, trent and some of his friends from uni.
