the first thing i did when i got to brugge was a canal cruise, cause i'd heard it was worth doing one there rather than amsterdam or venice. it was really pretty, like a little amsterdam. after the tour i walked around for a while, i went into the main town square and some how ended up in the shopping street! i followed the canal out to swan lake where there's a beautiful walled convent type complex. i stopped along the way to invest in some belgian chocolates and then walked through the small streets back to the hostel. it was a really nice town just to explore, especially the quieter areas. that night the hostel ran a belgian beer tasting which was really interesting to taste all the different flavours, bit of a conesoiur now!
