we were woken up by a call from the mechanic at 9:30 saying he had our tyre so we quickly got dressed and packed and went to get it put on the car. it only took 5 minutes once they actually had the tyre! we were so keen to get out of kinsale that we forgot about breakfast, so we stopped half an hour down the road in clonakilty for brunch. our plan for the day was to drive all along the coast, to the most southern point of ireland and then up to a town near limerick. because of the late start and long breakfast break we didn't have time and it wasn't really beach weather anyway, so we drove partly along the coast through skibbereen and bantry then inland into county kerry. almost as soon as we crossed the border the landscape dramatically changed, it got very rocky and rugged as we climbed the mountains so we stopped playing car games to enjoy the scenery. we stopped at molly's gap and then in the town of kilarney for tea and scones in a fancy tea room (alana, jen, daen and i tried to go there we were in kerry in september but it was always closed, so we managed to fufill a lifelong dream this time!) we stayed in tralee instead of pushing on to limerick in the rain. the hostel was really cheap but it was a nice gerorgian townhouse )with a slightly crazy landlady!)
