It's actually been about a month since I last wrote anything in my poor little blog so I felt it time to sit down and pound away at the old keyboard so I can try and keep this thing up to date and in the NOW. It’s funny how life keeps passing in what seems an increasing speed.  How did the first 18 years of life take an eternity and the second seems to have passed in the blink of an eye?  I remember when I was a kid I would hear people say that youth is wasted on the young and I would think "what a bunch of bitter old bastards" but oh how I see their wisdom now.  Man I’m getting old….i’m almost ready for my wheel chair but not quite yet.

So what have I been doing this past month you may wonder.  Well the majority of the month has been spent underwater looking at various aquatic life and dealing with various customers who have forgotten their training to one degree or another.  The diving has been absolutely lovely with just the occasional day of big waves out on the open water.  Surprisingly the big waves don’t really affect the dive that much.  The visibility is still great and there usually is little to no current (which really affects the quality of your dive) the only thing that is affected is getting back on the boat which can be a bit tricky with the big swells.  Not that climbing up a ladder is all that hard but taking your fins off in the water and awaiting your turn hanging off the back grill can get a little hairy when the water  is throwing you around.  Not only that but as dive leader we kind of follow the army’s motto of first in and last out so if there is any problems we are in the water to help out.  I’ve done about 60 dives in the last 3 weeks so that is pretty good and keeps me happy though my dive computer is starting to get a little disconcerted with my behavior.  Again I wont bore you with the technicalities but will just say that the dive computer keeps track of your dives and your depths and after awhile it starts to get a bit angry with you and begins to limit the time you can spend underwater.  A day off solves this because your body has now had time to completely “wash out” or in other words….all the built up nitrogen in your body has been released and your computer knows this and is happy with you again.  I have had the last 2 days off which is good for my computer but leaves me a little bored

What would a blog be without one of my patented rant sessions right?  The boats that I work on are live aboards meaning that you stay on the boat for multiple days and just dive.  This environment is great for friends and couples but as you can imagine we don’t get families…until this week.  A family of 4….mom, dad and their 3 year old son and infant daughter booked for 5 days on the boat.  Ok what kind of assholes put their children on a boat with nothing for them to do for 5 days?  Not only are they inconsiderate to their kids but they are inconsiderate to the other customers because lets face it, who wants to go on this amazing diving holiday and be stuck on the boat with a crying child?  Or better yet a child who gets sea sick (the 3 year old).  The gaul of these people completely baffled me and you just kind of wanted to take them aside and shake them vigorously.  The kids were cute enough other then when they destroyed our fish ID books ($75 each) or puked everywhere or were constantly crying, but other than that they were great.  As a side rant I would like to mention that I understand that a mother needs to feed her children but for some reason this woman would whip out her udder every time I was giving them a dive briefing.  Please understand that a dive briefing consists of your dive group gathering around you while you go over the plan and what the dive site will be like.  It lasts about 5 minutes as you kind of give a presentation to your divers and I swear to god every time, this woman would start breast feeding her child.  Look, there is about 2 hours between dives so it’s not like she is pressed for time or anything like that.  I have already typed a anti public breastfeeding blog rant last year so please go back to that one if you are really interested in how much I hate this but in conclusion I will just say……..PUT YOUR GOD DAMN TIT AWAY WHILE I AM GIVING MY DIVE BRIEFING YOU INCONSIDERATE WENCH!

On a brighter note I’m going to post a couple pics of my neighborhood and the outside of my bungalow.  The inside pics will have to wait until I clean the place up a little bit but this will at least give you a general idea of where I am at in the world and proves that I am not sleeping in a tent again.  I do love living in tropical paradise for sure and my home is right on the border of the rainforest so it’s some pretty nice scenery.  There is a national park a little bit up the road called “khao sok” and there are still wild elephants, leopards and tigers in this place which is just kinda mind blowing that some place that wild is so close to where I live.

The holidays are upon us once again as time steadily marches on so I would like to wish my American readers a happy thanksgiving.  May your meal be large and delicious and your football watching epic.  I really do like the states during the holidays and it’s something I miss.  One day I will fly back for thanksgiving or maybe I’ll just go to the Marriott again for their huge thanksgiving dinner they put out wherever you are in the world.  Well, until we meet again dear reader I wish you health and happiness.
