So who has been watching the chaos in thailand on TV?  Man what a clusterfuck they finally decided to undertake.  not only are there riots and burning tires and tanks in streets (about time on the last one) but it is all happening on the biggest holiday in thailand.  everyone, both thai and westerner looks forward to songkran or as its called "the water festival".  As you may know from my other posts, its just one giant squirt gun war involving the entire country and fun is had by all.  unfortunately for the residents of bangkok, all the official gatherings and festivities were cancelled due to the idiotic red shirts and in part because of the yellow shirts also.  how hard is it to have an election and then abide by the results of said election?  both of these groups say that they are fighting for democracy but im pretty sure neither of them have the slightest inclination what democracy is.  I mean shit, the yellow shirts want to take away the right to vote from the rural population because..............wait for it.........they are too "stupid" to vote "correctly".  exactly what the fuck does that mean and how does that correspond with democracy?

luckily for me i have holed up on ko tao for a little rest and relaxation with im.  we celebrated songkron today with my ko tao friends and it mostly involved very enthusiastic water fights and a bit of whiskey thrown in for good measure.  im really got a kick out of it because she has only known the isaan version of songkron which is still fun but is not quite as intense as most places.  i have about 3 weeks left before i have to head off to alaska and i am not looking forward to it at all.  the only thing keeping my head up is the fact that i have a couple of different plans in the works that should produce more money for me and possibly liberate me from alaska in the future.....but all that is a ways away and right now i can only see the flight ahead of me.  the flight and going through customs in seattle again where i am sure to get the over-enthusiastic anal probe because they just fucking hate me at that airport.

on a completely different topic, has anyone been checking out the catholic church as of late?  ok ok i'm sure this will offend a few people but holy hell i think they lost their minds.  first of all there was an incident in brazil where a doctor performed an abortion on a 9 year old girl who was carrying twins after being raped by her step father.  the church, in its infinite wisdom, excommunicated both the doctor and the mother of the child but did nothing to the stepfather who thought it was a good idea to dip his wick in a 9 year old.  #1...i never understood the idea of excommunication.  who in the hell is a priest to say whether or not you can talk to god?  what kind of god would allow some schmuck wearing a frock to decide who my children would be.  the entire idea that god is the father should automatically exclude the possibility of being excommunicated....or maybe he's just a really bad parent.  #2 if anyone is going to get excommunicated (and then hopefully strung up by his balls) it should be the father not a doctor who probably saved that girls life.

my second favorite move by the catholic church of late was the pope flying to africa and saying that condoms were the main reason for the spread of aids and that if people just stopped using condoms then aids would not flourish.  excuse my incredulous attitude but what century is this jack ass living in...the 8th?  for him to make this statement in africa is especially heinous considering the huge amount of aids cases and aids orphans.  i suppose the next one will be the main cause of the holocaust was being jewish.  there should be iq tests.....and the extreme idiots should be taken out of the gene pool before they breed or rise into the position to lead 1.3 billion people back into the dark ages.

to jump once again to something completely different....i have posted to video clips on here.  travelpod has been nice enough to bring about an easier uploader so now i have the time and inclination to upload movies.  there is a video from october of the awesome whale shark that i got to hang out with on ko tao and then there is a video from last week at the similans with emma the eel.  again, if you want to see her in all her glory you need to go to youtube and search under "thumb eel"......its awesome

Oh the hostility...
Why so much hostility???

Yes you make some good points, but are we projecting ourselves a little bit with so much outward anger?

mad world
Hey muchacho.
Understand completely what you're saying.
But don't let the anger rule your last few weeks in Thailand, man! It's not worth it!
We are living in a mad mad world. But we are able to enjoy what's in it too! And you proved already that this is f***ing true.
So, please don't let your anger ruin the good things in your life and especially in this trip!
Go on with the positive attitude I know from you and let everybody enjoy what you have to give to this world. Because this is what makes it different and can change it eventually.
Hope to see you next season in Khao Lak and wish you a good time in Alaska!
:)
