well Ive been off the grid for the last week due to work issues.  i was tapped to go up near bangkok and "take some kids snorkeling" for a week.  so me and another guy from my dive shop head up to bangkok (expenses paid) and then went on another 3 hour drive to the small resort that the kids were being based out of.  what my "boss" failed to mention was that there were actually 170 kids on a sort of 1 week summer camp/adventure camp sort of outing.  me and my buddy were running the snorkeling but there was also kayaking and hiking and a bunch of other crap the kids were doing over the course of the week.  luckily they broke them down into groups so we only got 60 at a time.....yeah 60 11 and 12 year olds all going snorkeling in the ocean, can you say stress?  and these weren't just any kids, these came from some of the wealthiest families in Thailand.  i mean i had the son of one of the princes in my care....who the hell ok'd THAT?

this was my first experience working with kids and i really didn't have any idea what i was doing.  i mean, i have never been the "authority guy" in any situation but now I'm finding myself trying to explain why they had to wear life jackets and why they had to do this and do that.  i actually had to break out the phrase "why?  because i said so thats why"  at this point i had a slight mental collapse and needed some alone time.  at what point in my life did i cross over into the land of responsible adulthood?  shouldn't someone tell me about this shit?  there should be some kind of letter or notice or public notification in the newspaper that HEY BY THE WAY.....you're not a kid anymore!!!!  All this being said, me and my partner in crime kept the kids safe and sound and only had to deal with a minimum of bitching.  the funny thing is......and the teachers that accompanied them and my fellow adventure employees noticed this as well......is that the kids really kind of latched on to me and really liked being around me (and even listened to me sometimes).  i had about 2/3 of the 170 all knowing my name and saying hi and some of them decided to chase me down and try and drown me when i would be in the pool or in the ocean.  i was a giant life raft lol and the kids piled on, which is all well and good but i wasn't wearing a life jacket so it was a struggle sometimes to keep my head above water.  its nice to be liked but being friends with 100's of school kids can look bad on a resume LOL.

anyways, all is well and I'm done with that little job.  I'm going to make a quick run up to ninny's village due to some internal relationship stuff that is not your business  and then back down to ko tao for a week.............then i have to go to Cambodia for a friends wedding so no rest for the wicked i suppose.  wish me luck

Kids
Well - it sounds like you have remmebered one of my favorite sayings to you 'Because I said so'. I do remember saying that to you at least a trillion times as you were growing up, and by the way you have. LOL
Sounds like you really enjoyed the kids and the work.
Going to Ninny's village again - our curious minds want to know what for.
