here i am back in beautiful ko tao after the excursion up north into the no man's land known as issan province. that being said, the weather couldnt be much shittier at the  moment.  seems that we are in the middle of quite the energetic monsoon this year and its been pissing down rain for about a week now.  there are frogs everywhere and it makes driving a motor bike quite the squishy experience.  on the good news front, chad and i have mood out of the pier town of mae haad and are up in a pretty swank bungalow/apartment overlooking the island.  has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and an actual working kitchen which is amazing in and of itself.  there is also a wrap around balcony where i have hung a hammock and this is where i plan to sit out the monsoon. the balcony has a nice view of part of the island and it just reminds me that im in tropical paradise.......as if the coconuts washed into the road by the rains wasnt enough of a reminder right?

chad is hanging in there well although the boy bores easily and has been dropping about $15 every two days to call his girlfriend in alaska.  in a way i suppose i am jealous, i mean when i came to thailand for the first time i had a girlfriend but i think i may have called her 2-3 times in the 6 months i was out here  was it that i wasnt in love or that my cheapness over ruled my heart?  either way the boy is calling 9000 miles away to talk about such important things as what is each others favorite pop tart.......for fucks sake man!!

the problem with the excitement thing is that by reading my enteries i sort of give you a false impression of my life at the moment....by reading the blog you would think that life is nothing but excitement and thrills.  That im edlessly on the move and that strange and whacky things are happening to me left and right but the truth is that i leave out all the 16 hour bus rides and the endless sitting around and waiting for a ferry to show up...the reading 600 pages of a book in ninny's village etc etc.  its hard to be endlessly amused when you are doing this for 9 months at a whack.

so that is all thats new from here.  rain and crappy visibility underwater.  im doing my best to actually stay out of the water for the time being because the conditions are so damn bad.  there are plenty of movies to watch on the dvd player or hours to kill in a hammock
