the traveling consisted of a 5 hour middle of the night ride into anchorage (thanks Erica, you rock), waiting in the airport for another 4 hours and then 15 hours in transit. upon arrival we went through immigration where they gave me endless shit again. apparently i have waaaaaaay too many Thai stamps in my passport so even though i am following the letter of the law to the umpteenth degree, they still give me the stink eye. my passport actually came up on the computer as American Samoan LOL. another extenuating circumstance was my grateful dead tshirt with a huge skeleton on it. the immigration official actually said "oh you sorcerer" which can never be good. after clearing that hurdle, we exited the air conditioned bliss of the airport and happily re-entered the heat and chaos of bangkok. taking a quick taxi to the bus station we hurridely made our way to pattaya where we could sit on a beach and relax and take in a little night life (read into that what you will).
many many bad things deleted............................we are now in bangkok and its the middle of the night and i cant sleep so i text message ninny (ex girlfriend) that I'm in bangkok. ends up she was at a nightclub about 2 minutes down the road so of course we get together and we haven't parted since....not a bad thing since shes a sweet girl and pretty damn funny due to her colorful use of the English language (please bring me my fucking check). chad gets to laugh now because i was viciously making fun of him due to his little love life in Alaska and now I'm doing the same shit he was....ah how the worm has turned.
we are now back down in ko tao and just living the relaxed life. its raining quite a bit since we're here a bit off season but no big deal. i hadn't planned on working yet but my employer had other ideas so Ive taken a couple of customers out and the conditions haven't been too bad surprisingly. yesterday a fun diver from another school disappeared out at chumpon pinnacle (the deep dive site) and at this point its more of a body recovery operation. kind of fucked up thing to come back to but the shit happens so you just have to be careful. i have finally purchased my own dive computer.....though it wasn't quite the model i REALLY wanted it is the more economical and logical choice. it at least keeps me from having to use the dive tables and keeps me much safer then diving without one (the dive computer gives you your depth and time underwater continuously and then calculates how much longer you can stay underwater safely.......oxygen consumption in only one concern, you have to worry about nitrogen absorption rates also).
well thats about it from here. i hope everyone is doing well out in the real world and those of you up in Alaska, i hope you are winterizing your ass because here comes the cold. miss you all believe it or not.
