i always tell people that alaska really isnt that cold in the summer.  im not saying its hot by any means but you can usually get by with a pair of shorts and a sweatshirt.  since i am living in a tent this summer it is of course unseasonably cold and i never look forward to getting out of my sleeping bag in the morning lol.  me and my friend chad have moved off of the spit which is good because the wind out there is more devestating then annoying.  add that to the fact that the sand gets everywhere and they charge you $8 a day for this priviledge and you just end up being very annoyed with the whole thing.  my boss is kind enough to let us camp up on her spare 2 acres that she owns above town so its nice and quiet and we have quite the kick ass view (and its free).  the tent is staked down and the rainfly is firmly attatched so im hoping this will detract any stray moose or bears...if nothing else i think chad's snoring will keep wildlife away so thats always a good thing.

its a long story but my second job fell through before i even started the damn thing so right now im only working at one job which is ok but will not fulfill my financial needs over the length of the summer....neal needs more money! lol.  the first job is doing well though, some things never change i guess and i just fell right back into the routine of the thing.  alot of the people from last year are now back so its a lot of fun and a lot of laughs when im not busting my ass to get the food out.  hope everyone is doing well and is a little warmer then me.  stay black and strong!

I feel for you Neal!!! I would make him go buy another tent and put it as far away as possile!!! He is my 'Favorite Little Brother' and I miss him tremendously but am glad to not have to listen to the snoring!

Sorry to hear about the 2nd job falling through! Maybe you will happen upon something

Best Wishes,
Lynn

Better late than never!
Hi Neal!
I'm horrible...I've haven't posted a message to you yet. Please know that I'm thinking of you and got your message yesterday. We just got back from Georgia for a mini family trip to visit Kev's g-parents and aunts and uncles. We had a nice time visiting, drinking beautiful margaritas and visiting the local botanic gardens. So we're not neglecting you. :)

Glad you're working and enjoying the compadres there. Maybe something else will turn up for you to make some more cash, but I guess crashing for free (granted it's someones lawn!) will help you 'save'. Take it easy...and stay warm!

Lori
