well here i am folks, safe and sound  in homer alaska.  it was quite an epic journey with the total elapsed time from leaving my hotel to pulling into homer standing at something like 51 hours.  i nearly passed out yesterday from exhaustion but now im ready to get into the swing of things and get this summer thing underway.  it was nice to come back and see a bunch of familiar faces.....the inuendos and dirty jokes started before i even got all the way through the door so we are on track for a normal season

while still in thailand i sorta kinda made nice nice with ninny so we'll see what goes on there this summer though im not holding my breath.  it was nice to just relax with her for  a few days before heading back to the states and the freezing temperatures that awaited me.  speaking of the temps....its a high of about 50 (about 10 celsius for my english viewers) and a low of about 31-28 (-1 -3).  i already have a cold so i should be fairly unhappy most of the summer.

i entered the united states at LAX this time instead of alaska and it was a violent reminder of how much i dont like living here anymore (the USA).  the first people you see at the bottom of the ramp are 4-5 border guards with their guns asking to see that you have a passport.  nice welcome into the land of the free and the home of the brave.  i hate what our country has become....a frightened police state that doesnt give a rats ass about anything other then getting the "terrorists".  im even more upset that the general population has let this happen.  the repeals of basic freedoms and protections in the name of homeland security are more devastating then the actual terror attacks.  The government stated after 9/11 when they were trying to convince people to go shopping (dont get me started) that if you let the terrorists change our way of life then they have already won.  think about that statement and then look at all the civil liberties that have gone into the shitter in the name of homeland security.  have we not already lost this "war"?
