well here i am, on another continent once again, and i must say, it feels like i never left. its entirely too easy to get into the swing of things over here and forget all about my other life that i like to call "gainful employment neal". its of course in the 90's, nothing new there, but it doesnt seem as hot as it should....all in all im just in a fucking fantastic mood.

i'm going to restrict this post to telling you about my flight since in all honesty, i havent really done anything over here yet. I took 3 flights to get here, a 4 hour trip from chicago to LA and then a 14 hour flight from LA to taipei and a 3 hour hop to bangkok. The flight to LA was on American Airlines and it is a classic representation of why our airline companies suck so bad. the plane was a 757 so it was already cramped, according to the stewardess American no longer offer pillows to their "coach" fliers so you're shit out of luck on that one. If you wanted to watch the movie (which was a pretty decent X-men III ) you had to pay $2 for the head phones and watch it on one of the tv's hanging from the ceiling.....and of course you had to hope that the tv closest to you was working (2 of them werent). God forbid you get hungry, your only option was the $4 "snack pack" which had crackers and cheese and peanuts....mmmmmm. on the plus side was they gave me two orange juices so yay for american airlines. in comparison is my 14 hour flight to taipei on the standard 747. first and foremost this plane had the most kick ass entertainment system ever. every seat had their own private tv with 60 channels and about 15 of these were movies (good movies none the less). you had a remote control that could rewind the movies or pause them or put them in one of 3 languages for you....the remote also acted as a joystick for the game system that was built into your tv..hell yes!! before take off you get a giant hot wet nap to make yourself feel all fresh and then they hand out the slippers. pillow and blanket were already provided when you got to your seat. i was fed 2 full meals and 2 snacks during the flight without being charged a penny and let me just add that china air's mocha cheese cake is pretty damn good. all in all i must say that china airlines kicks american squarely in the balls and if given a choice its an obvious decision who ill fly with next time.
